A runway is a defined rectangular area on a land aerodrome prepared for landing and take-off of the aircraft. Runways are located at the airports. There are different types of runways in accordance with the types of operation such as grass runways, paved runways and water runways. Airports and runways are used internationally. The ICAO arranges some requirements under the title of Annex 14, which includes the standards and recommended practices for the aerodromes. Each contracting state is required to ensure that all aerodrome comply with the requirements of this annex.
