010-06 PROCEDURES FOR AIR NAVIGATION SERVICES – AIRCRAFT OPERATIONS (PANS OPS)

Course Information

PANS-OPS is an air traffic control acronym of procedures for air navigation services – aircraft operations. PAN-OPS are rules for designing instrument approach and departure procedures. Such procedures are used to allow aircraft to land and take off when instrument meteorological conditions (IMC) impose instrument flight rules (IFR). PANS-OPS Doc 8168 includes the procedure related to the instrument flight. It consists of two volumes; Volume I involves the flight procedures and Volume II involves construction of the visual and instrument flight procedures. PANS-OPS was created to have a standardized procedure to create and fly instrument procedures. Courses are constantly monitored and updated when major changes in authority documentation are released.
